A Song for Slimes
Performance was an art. Like all arts, it was dependent on spectacle and novelty. The faces in the crowd might change in that cozy theater, but no matter what you do there will always be a sceptic in view of the show; The performer themselves.
Every step memorized, humming the songs as they go about their days in a sort of way only mundane familiarity could invite, and falling asleep muttering their dialogue they may recite as dreams slowly creep in and take them… Only then to find themselves back on that same stage even there as their brain continued rehearsal in to slumber.
Nilou had journeyed far from her little theater in search of something more exciting to perform, mainly a new song for her to choreograph. However, many of the musicians she would turn to or be recommended proved to be disappointing as they would simply play songs either similar to or abjectly inspired by the same tried and tired tunes she was trying to escape. More violas and harps and pandering to the sort of people that would always attend her theater. Nilou, more than anything, wanted something new.
Xilonen was likely surprised to see Nilou arrive at her worship. Xilonen barely paid her mind, assuming this would be another fairly uninteresting job. “Hello. Forms are over there if you would like to get a head start on filling them out. I’m told for first time customers the process can be a bit daunting but—”
“Oh, no forms!” Nilou perked up on her tiptoes. “I am here for your music. I heard your performances are very unique and dazzling! At least compared to where I am from.”
“I’m surprised you heard of that as opposed to my more… tangible services?” Xilonen raised a brow and placed her prepared pen to the side.
“I have also heard people who hear your music tend to really…” Nilou shook her hips enthusiastically back and forth. Xilonen gave a little smirk and repeated the shake back, albeit with much more enthused midriff motion and a little shake to her rear. Nilou blushed but did not look away, enthusiastically pointing with her finger. “That! Exactly that! Music that makes people dance with you instead of just watching from their seats!”
Xilonen fell back into her seat and pointed over towards a smaller part of her shop where a bundle of boxes and devices laid on a wide work bench. She tossed Nilou a small key. “Go check over there in that lockbox. You should see a sort of flat crystal about the size of your palm. Place one in my music box and it should start playing automatically.”
It was a bit intimidating. The dancer marched to the corner of the shop holding the key with both hands. She had no idea what device on the table ahead of her was the music box in question but luckily it was easy to find the storage box as it looked much like any other complete with an obvious keyhole to unlock it. Nilou placed the key inside and gave it a quick turn. The box was unlocked and easily unlatched and opened in short order.
Inside there was a variety of these small circular crystals. Each of them were unlabeled, likely due to Xilonen’s confidence she could recognize them by coloration alone… or general laziness meant she never got around to it. Music was her hobby, and nametags was her dayjob. Nilou wasn’t sure which one she should grab until she saw one of them was inside a special envelope. She lifted it up and saw a red sticker on the corner indicating that this was a new disk and needed to be examined properly still. Well, that sounded exactly like what Nilou had been looking for!
She hummed happily and ran her hands across every device on the table until one of them acquiesced to her interrogating fingers and opened a small cover in the exact dimensions of the disk. With a quick rip of the paper cover, she placed the disk inside and closed the cover. She was greeted by the sound of a strange mechanical whirring emitting from inside and then…
A warbling strange sound came from the speakers. It was strange but intoxicating, like someone had taken a trumpet or a bassoon and altered it somehow… played it underwater without losing any of that crispness and gave it more air than a player could ever provide. And beneath it all was this wet, intoxicating beat. It had a deep purchase: this PLOP sound to it like air popping in your ears, but then it settled immediately in to a powerful thud. They were powerful but weren’t saved for the climax to a movement! They were the core of the song!
Nilou found it impossible to keep her hips to herself, immediately shaking them along to the beat. She began in a trained motion, recognizing the delicate, womanly motion before she was too ecstatic to maintain the muscle memory. She raised her hands above her head and stuck her rear out and really began to move! Her figure was emphasized gorgeously by her dancer’s attire and her jewelry and golden bands rattled along to the music, her body itself a marvelous instrument.
“Hmmm,” Xilonen tilted her head and wiggled her ears. “Haven’t heard that one before.”
“Really? It sounds amazing! This is exactly the sort of song I’ve been looking for!” Nilou only turned back long enough to speak before shaking the music. She was equally impressed by the technology! The bass coming from the device was so strong that she could feel it resonating inside of her body!
Sweat dripped down her forehead, a strange color but it wasn’t something she noticed in the heat of the moment. She leaned over the machine and saw another switch to press that looked interesting. Click. As soon as she pressed it the device shot out a wide array of colorful lights that shined across her and just made her even more giddy. She was so absorbed by her joy that it made it very simple to just stare. Look at the lights as they move.
She seemed unable to worry about much of anything even as the little glops of sweat bolstered their rank. One drop became two became drops too proximate to remain but drops. These things gave way until they were little blotchy puddles forming across her elegant skin. What was strangest about these shimmering deposits was how they didn’t move or fall from her simply remaining in place. This only grew more apparent as these uneven globs began to grow out and bulge as if someone was pumping air into them. A gradient line that goes from the blue shade of these gooey bumps to her pale skin marked where the changes on her body began and she ended.
Xilonen didn’t notice either as things were progressing. In all honestly, she was feeling the music too albeit in her own manner. She was quietly passionate, nodding her head along. Her feet were a little bit off the ground, hovering just an inch away, which made it easy for her to not notice that her feet were not as well constructed as they once were. Just beneath her shoes her toes slowly lost their definition and soon joined together into one featureless blob that was vaguely foot shaped. Xilonen wagged her feet to the music happily and slowly nodded her head which gave her a weird feeling. It was if there was water in her ears that she couldn’t shake out.
Swaying increasingly, Nilou had devised of a new dance that she was sure would drive her audience nuts! Or at least lightly appall them but that certainly had its own appeal since she was trying to be experimental! She couldn’t just do the same thing over and over… and over! Like how she kept staring at the lights and enjoying the show. “The lights are… how do you umm…?” She blinked. The pause lasted a little too long, long enough for Nilou to want to turn and face Xilonen but also long enough for it to be awkward to do so. “Umm…” She gulped and swore it felt like she swallowed more spit than there was in her mouth. “How can I… I mean add lights to my show? Do you think I could?” There she was, she found the words. She gave a big grin and turned.
THWOMP.
The step to turn her hip was much too heavy and her foot felt a little uneven in the movement. Her ankles turned to adjust her balance but she was met by more of her than she had ever had to balance before. She felt her one hip jiggle but not in an attractive “there’s a beautiful woman” manner. It was artificial and had this sluggish friction like she was trying to pull a bowl through a swimming pool. It… almost felt good.
Shelves rattled from the movement. Nilou was worried she was just a bit too eager, and her slowing thoughts settled for what had driven her to turn. Xilonen squinted at the dancer, noticing the lights dancing around her and how the light traveled through both of her hips like opaque windows, tinting any light that went through them blue.
Xilonen slowly realized what was happening. “Hey, there wasn’t an envelope in that box was there?”
“Huh? Oh umm…” Nilou giggled. There she was being awkward because it was hard to talk and now she was struggling to talk again! “An envelope? Ehehe, yeah… Yeah there was one! That’s where I got the CD from! And it ummmshhh… Yesh I um…” Nilou blinked, a little thin rivet of blue curled from the corner of her mouth. “Why did I do something…?”
“That was a new disc!” Xilonen yelped. “I didn’t test it yet so who knows what it does!” Xilonen went to stand, “We need to turn this off until—” And then tripped over herself. Her shoes touched the ground but she didn’t touch her shoes. She simply fell forward on to her hands and knees and looked back to see… nothing.
Her high heels were left behind, and her legs began to bloat bigger and brighter, more grey in color, and shiny too. The definition in her ankles vanished as her legs were slowly rolled back up towards her, mass repurposed towards a singular shape and goal. Something simpler… Her knees were already struggling to keep supporting her as during her little fall forward she had moved again. Her fingers began to undergo the same process her toes had gone through. Her breasts swayed from the movement and the position she was in, and with each bounce they struggled to keep bouncing as they grew bigger and began to stick together. Her torso reached out to grab them, growing and bloating just the same like bread baking. A slightly jiggling wormfsound resonated from her as the music shimmered from every corner.
“W-when we move…” Xilonen observed. “It… movement triggers the… the…” Her eyes struggled to stay focused, her irises kept drifting… nowhere. As if her brain was forgetting how to use them. Her knees widened out, her elbows tensing to hold her as her back began to bloat just the same. Soon her back was as bulged forward as her front torso, her breasts almost entirely vanished behind her sudden growth spurt, just a little bump where femininity used to be. The front straps to her top BURST and left the fabric on the floor in front of her, nipple-less grey blobs bouncing just as much as the rest of her. She crawled forward another inch leaving her heels behind.
“What does it trigger…?” Nilou took another step forward. She didn’t look nearly concerned enough that the woman had fallen forward, but that concern certainly grew as her steps became heavier and more difficult to control. “What… dsghhh… doeshhh…” She blinked again as her neck began to feel incredibly heavy.
Pop. The golden coker around Nilou’s neck popped off as her neck began to bloat the same blue as the rest of her. Another wobbly step and her ankles began to bloat out, the blue slowly crawling up. Her thighs thickened and spread. With each uneven step they slid against each other, at first emitting a sort of rubbery sliding squeak sound as if there was a thin wall of material still there to resist. Gradually, as they grew thicker and bluer and vanished into the same mass that her hips had become, they simply coalesced. Her legs just did not part where her thighs were and there were no more thighs to rub together. She could only move forward in this drudging motion, moving one hip forward and then the other like turning a cart through mud.
Thick globs of mud filled her mind, making those little thoughts she had before get even harder. All the void in her mind where thoughts had occurred before were simply filled with an ambient sort of glee, no more complicated than a script for a young audience’s play. They were happy. They were so happy. The golden bands around her waist and thighs burst off and fell to the floor like broken arrows as more of her vanished into the main shape. Her legs barely held together. Her arms still had their own definition but that was gradually going away. She just barely made it over to the other girl.
“Help…” She blinked. “Help you… gestshhh back… back up…” She reached out her hand.
Xilonen grabbed it and began to pull. Of course, she had forgotten her legs no longer had feet. Silly slime. As she was pulled up, her uneven weight simply sent her forward against Nilou for drastic support. Nilou went tumbling backwards, her slimy form crashing against the speaker and turning the volume even higher.
Her whole body jiggled to the rhythm and then moved through Xilonen too. They resonated together in that moment. Nilou put weight on her foot and then the other. She tried to keep ahold of the other girl but that was growing increasingly difficult. Not just to stand but to think of her as a girl.
“Hrgh…” Nilou pushed up, trying to get back to her feet and keep Xilonen up to. “A-almost…” Xilonen lifted her head that had crashed against Nilou’s chest. But that movement had been enough to register. Suddenly, Xilonen’s head bloated out to be twice as big. Both of her eyes struggled to keep focused until they just didn’t. All their detail vanished and were replaced by two big dumb little circular eyes.

Her head immediately became too heavy for her neck and it collapsed downward and right against Nilou. “It feeelsh soo good! I can’t think I can’t glrprhpsshhh…” Nilou was overtaken by the weight. She let go of Xilonen who fell backwards and just… rolled. Not like a person with limbs and balance, but like a ball that didn’t particularly care if it landed upright or upside down or anyway in particular. But the damage was done. Nilou had held that extra weight for too long and felt something inside of her give up.
That big blue body fell downwards like a roof with too many years and not enough support. It fell and swallowed her legs up. All the clothes that she had worn were swallowed into her body, deposited as she clumsily moved forward on her slime body, slithering along like a snail.
“Xil… Xilonesshh…?” Nilou called out. The grey slime in front of her rolled on to its proper side and looked blankly up at her.
“Glorp?” Was all it vocalized. Nilou almost understood it too, but both halves of her interpretation were right. Her still human part thought it said nothing; the slime part knew it said nothing. And nothing sounded so good.
“Musishh… soo… good…” Nilou felt her eyes drift across her face, her big dumb, happy expression spread across her cheeks like wet pain meeting rain. What was she worried about again? Why was she reaching out to a slime when slime was good and slime happy and no issue worry about that was easy just move forward and no
Hands no hands slime no hands hands go away now
and that no hands goodbye and slurp moving
forward and no worry—
At some point there were two people in that room, and some would say there may have even been just one or a half. But when that blue slime rolled forward and it opened its eyes…

There simply were not any people in that room. Just two slimes, moving along to the sounds of the music that had been put on for them.
It was like any beast you would play music for. There would be little signs of enjoyment, perhaps a preference for a certain corner of the room where the music was more enjoyable, but any coincidences with intellect were passing as it would quickly contradict the occurrence and wobble back over to another part of the room in defiance of the thought. And then the blue slime simply leapt on to the boom box playing the music and knocked it off the countertop, breaking it in the process.
A traveler waiting on a commission came to the door and was shocked to find two slimes a pile of clothes inside. Thinking the worst, he rushed away to go report it to the guards. Thankfully, he had left the door open and gave both of the slimes ample time to wiggle away.
They emerged out into the light of the day, which was a more natural place for slimes, though the Geo Slime had a slight preference for the cavern-like structure they had departed. All the same, there was a certain glee that neither could escape. How good it felt to be slimes.
